Programming Calendar

Please join us at the Channel Islands Boating Center for the annual California Coastal Clean-Up

We will be cleaning up Channel Islands Harbor via kayaks! CIBC will provide all kayaking and safety equipment, as well as good vibes. Help us give back to our beautiful state and get out on the water with us! We will be also giving away SWAG items to our volunteers! 

Parking:  Plenty of free parking in front and around the Boating Center. Please ensure that your vehicle is locked and that nothing of value is left in your vehicle.  

Restrooms:  We have restrooms at the Boating Center but our shower facilities are not available due to COVID guidelines.  

Lockers: Lockers are available and we have locks that can be used

What to bring with you:

• Sun protection (SUNSCREEN, a hat and/or sunglasses.)
• A water bottle
• Comfortable clothing, quick drying is recommended but not required.
• Wear extra layers when necessary.
• A change of clothes (Just in case)
• A towel
• A snack
• Shoes are optional, but recommended during colder weather

Activity Information:

COVID guidelines: The Channel Islands Boating Center is a University building and masks will be suggested when inside the building.  

Clothing: Dress in layers as the temperature changes throughout the day. Clothing that dries quickly such as non-cotton is best but not required. Shorts and a long sleeve shirt is what most people wear. Shoes are required when walking down to the dock. This activity is inherently wet, and you will get a little wet.  So please bring a towel and a change of clothes.

Perfect for beginners, this class covers the basics of sailing, including boat handling, rigging, and navigation. Learn to harness the wind and set sail with confidence.

Recommender prerequisite: Intro to Sailing A and B 

 Our comprehensive program combines hands-on practical training with expert guidance, ensuring participants develop the skills and confidence needed to master the intricacies of keel boat sailing. Participants can expect a full classroom lesson on the basics of keel boat sailing and time at the helm of one our three keel boats
